Overview #
Third-party tracking tags such as Facebook Ads Pixel, Google Analytics, and other marketing trackers can be placed on your Online Join sign-up pages. These enable conversion tracking, ad performance measurement, and funnel analysis. All tag implementations require the ASF programming team, as they involve custom code changes. Self-service tag placement is not available.
Online Join page structure #
Three pages make up the Online Join member sign-up flow. The URL does not change as the member progresses, so individual page tags require specific page identifiers provided at the time of your request:
- Landing Page / All Offers: The initial page where membership options are displayed.
- Form / Member Information: The page where the member enters personal details.
- Thank You Page / Final Agreement Page: The completion confirmation page.
A single global tag can be placed to fire on all three pages. Individual page tags can be placed to track progression through the funnel or to fire a conversion event only on the Thank You page.
Facebook Ads Pixel #
To add a Facebook Ads Pixel to your Online Join pages:
- Go to business.facebook.com and select Events Manager from the left menu.
- Choose your Pixel under Data Sources.
- Copy the displayed Pixel ID (a 16-digit number).
If you do not have a Pixel yet, create one within Events Manager by selecting Connect Data Sources.
After your implementation is complete, verify it using the Meta Pixel Helper browser extension for Chrome.
Google Tag Manager #
Google Tag Manager (GTM) is a free Google tool that lets you manage multiple tracking tags from a single container. It is recommended when you have more than one tracking tag to implement, as future additions do not require additional code changes once GTM is in place.
To set up GTM:
- Go to tagmanager.google.com and create an account.
- Note your Container ID in the format
GTM-XXXXXXX. - Submit this Container ID to ASF along with your request.
GTM includes a built-in Preview mode for testing tag behavior before publishing, which reduces implementation errors.
Submitting a tracking tag request #
To request tag implementation, contact your ASF account manager or the support team and provide:
- Your club account number.
- The type of tag (Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, GTM, or other).
- The HTML snippet provided by the tag platform.
- The target page or pages where the tag should fire.
The support team will confirm receipt and provide a timeline. You will be notified when the implementation is complete.
